Setting the Default Playback Device in Windows
Overview
The InfraWare Transcription Client (ITC) uses the default playback device configured in Windows for playing back audio. Sometimes a computer can have more than one possible playback device, so it's important to know how to define which device is the default one to use.
Solution
The simplest and most direct way to change your playback or recording device works the same way in Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. The idea is to open the Sound window and access the appropriate list of devices, depending on what you want to do.
One way to open this window is to find the icon for Speakers in the notification area from the lower right corner of your Desktop. Then, right-click or press and hold on it.
On the menu that pops up, select Playback Devices
On the Sound window, select the Playback tab, then select the correct device you want to use for your audio playback. Click on Set Default, then click OK
