Discarded Drafts Report Explained
Overview
For an explanation of the parameters for the Discarded Drafts Report, see KB738.
There are several ways in which the First Draft content can be discarded. This can be monitored with the Drafts Discarded Report.
- Discarded by MT:
- The Transcriptionist manually discards the draft with Alt + D in the ITC - KB573
- Discarded by Admin:
- Re-queue Job for First Draft - KB739
- Document Type changed in the ITC to a non-enabled template - KB730
- Discarded by Worfklow:
- Document ID Queue Auto Release - KB425
- When a First Draft job goes to a non-editor with the Account setting to Drop First Draft - KB532
- First Draft jobs are available to non-editors when turn-around time approaches - KB533
Summary
Discarded by MT
If you choose to run the report based on "Discarded by the MT" the results will return any jobs where the Transcriptionist used Alt + D to discard the draft. See KB573 for more details on this functionality. You can choose to group results by MT, Author, Document Type, Facility, and Manager. The Date column shows the date the draft was discarded.
Output Columns: Columns on the report will be determined by the Group By and Then By options in the parameters selected and may include the following:
- Manager - Account Manager (KB805 and KB800)
- Author - Author of the job which was discarded
- MT - MT who discarded the draft
- Job # - Job # for which the draft was discarded
- Date - Date the draft was discarded
- Reason - Reason given by the MT at the time the draft was discarded (See note above regarding availability of this feature).
- Technical - Yes or No value reflecting an option when the draft is discarded for the MT to indicate if there was a technical reason the draft was discarded.
Discarded by Workflow
If you choose to run the report based on drafts Discarded by Workflow Rules, the results will return any jobs where the First Draft was discarded due to workflow rules. You can choose to group results by MT, Author, Document Type, Facility, and Manager.
- When a First Draft job goes to a non-editor with the Account setting to Drop First Draft - KB532
- First Draft jobs are available to non-editors when turn-around time approaches - KB533
- Minutes - Audio length of the job for which the draft was discarded
- Date - Date the draft was discarded
- Draft Sent - Indicates if the draft was sent
Doc ID Queue timeouts
If you choose to run the report based on Document ID Queue timeouts, the results will return any jobs where the First Draft discarded due to the auto-release setting in the Document ID Queue. See KB425 for more details on this feature. You can choose to group results by MT, Author, Document Type, Facility, and Manager.
- Minutes - Audio length of the job for which the draft was discarded
- Date - Date the draft was discarded
- Went to FD - Indicates if the draft went to First Draft based on workflow settings
Discarded by Administrator
When the properties of a job are changed in the IMC an Administrator may have the option to requeue for First Draft prior to routing to a Transcriptionist/Editor. This option helps to minimize the loss of First Draft volume. Please see KB739 for details on this feature. You can choose to group results by MT, Author, Document Type, Facility, and Manager.
Output Columns: Columns on the report will be determined by the Group By and Then By options in the parameters selected and may include the following:
-
- Author - Author of the job which was discarded
- MT - MT who discarded the draft
- Job # - Job # for which the draft was discarded
- Minutes - Audio length of the job for which the draft was discarded
- Date - Date the draft was discarded
Drafts changed to non-enabled templates
If you choose to run the report based on this criteria the results will return any jobs where the draft was discarded when the Document Type was changed in the ITC to a Document Type where the template does not contain any First Draft Fields. See KB730 for details on this feature. You can choose to group results by MT, Author, Document Type, Facility, and Manager.
Output Columns: Columns on the report will be determined by the Group By and Then By options in the parameters selected and may include the following:
- Manager - Account Manager (KB805 and KB800)
- Author - Author of the job which was discarded
- MT - MT who discarded the draft
- Job # - Job # for which the draft was discarded
- Minutes - Audio length of the job for which the draft was discarded

- MT's Reason - For jobs where the draft was discarded by the MT in the ITC this column will display the reason given by the MT. This is not required, so this may be blank. See KB573 for details on this feature.
- Technical - Yes or No value reflecting an option when the draft is discarded for the MT to indicate if there was a technical reason the draft was discarded.
- Draft Sent - Indicates if the draft was sent
- Went to FD - Indicates if the draft went to First Draft based on workflow settings
All missed opportunities
If you choose to run the report based on All Missed First Draft Opportunities, the results will return any jobs where the draft was discarded. This would include all of the above ways a draft can be discarded. Administrators can use this parameter to see all drafts discarded for a specified timeframe. You can choose to group results by MT, Author, Document Type, Facility, and Manager. This option results in different columns on the output report.
Output Columns: Columns on the report will be determined by the Group By and Then By options in the parameters selected and may include the following:
